Ohio Works To Reduce Crime: The Plan

Ohio is typically a safe state, but Ohio has seen an increase in crime rates. Ohio's top cities for crimes are Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Columbus. Ohio Police have been working hard to reduce the amount of crime across Ohio by implementing a plan that focuses on reducing Ohio's top three offenses: theft from person (e.g., purse snatching), assault with intent to commit felony (e.g., robbery), and drug crimes (e.g., possession). Ohio Police have been working hard to reduce the amount of crime across Ohio by implementing a plan that focuses on reducing Ohio's top three offenses: theft from person (e.g., purse snatching), assault with intent to commit felony (e.g., robbery), and drug crimes (e.g., possession of narcotics). The murder rates in Ohio has been declining steadily over the last two decades. Ohio is working hard to cut down on Ohio's top three offenses because these are Ohio's leading contributors to Ohio crime rates.

One way they plan to reduce rates of Ohio crime is by offering Ohio offenders incentives to reduce their Ohio prison sentence. One of the new programs Ohio has enacted recently, called "Earn and Learn" will allow Ohio prisoners to earn a high school diploma or GED while incarcerated with the goal of reducing recidivism rates in Ohio. This is especially important when we take a closer look at the 3 main crimes based on repeat offenders. The goal with this program is by providing options for employment for someone who went to jail there will be less need to commit repeat crimes.

If these programs are a success Ohio could see a surge in business and population as it is one of the more affordable State's to move to. However crime rates are always a concern and we should keep an eye on what Ohio is doing to better itself.
